Founding Partners

Teach First Israel was co-founded by four organizations: Israel’s Ministry of Education, JDC Israel, The Naomi Foundation, and Hakol Hinuch.
In 2018, TFI became an independent public benefit company (PBC), promoting equal opportunities in the field of education in Israel’s periphery.

Teach for All

Teach First Israel is affiliated with Teach For All, an international network of independent programs working towards equal opportunity in education for all students whatever their socioeconomic background. The network was established in 2007, in response to repeated appeals from social entrepreneurs around the globe who wanted to improve educational opportunity in their own countries and create organizations based on the American “Teach For America” and the British “Teach First” models.

Teach For All’s global organization provides a platform that enables network partners to connect with and learn from each other, accelerating their individual and collective impact. Today, there are 58 partner countries in the Teach For All network, including Australia, Argentina, Chile, Estonia, India, China, Germany, Lebanon, the United States, Britain, Brazil, and Israel. There are more than 81,000 teachers and 55,000 alumni across the world, all working to ensure that children in their countries are given an equal opportunity to receive high-quality education.

Academic Partners

Levinsky College of Education (LCE) was chosen as one of the academic partners in the Teach First Israel training program. LCE was the first Israeli academic institution for teacher training conducted entirely in Hebrew. It was founded in 1912 in Neve Tzedek in Tel Aviv by the Odessa Committee of the Zionist organization “Hovevei Zion.” Initially, it was a beit midrash (school for Torah studies) for girls. It was named after Elḥanan Leib Levinsky, a writer and a journalist who was a key member in the movement for the Revival of the Hebrew language. Today, more than a century since its founding, innovation and pioneering are still among the most prominent characteristics of LCE. LCE led the academization process of teacher training in Israel, and was also one of the first colleges in Israel to receive accreditation for its master’s degree program in education (MEd).
