TFI is promoting excellence in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields through a dedicated professional development track. Cohort 8 and 9 include 86 new STEM teachers, which bring TFI's STEM total to 257- 25% of all TFI classroom teachers.
TFI’s success in recruiting increasing numbers of STEM teachers is especially impressive when seen in light of the fact that these candidates tend to have more lucrative employment options than those from other fields.
TFI also invests in cultivating a select cadre of STEM Leading Teachers, veteran teachers who take significant leadership roles in their schools and within TFI. They have become an indispensable part of TFI’s training and guidance of new STEM teachers, as well as of organizational leadership.
